Celebrate April with a Saturday of traditional Finnish kid-friendly crafts. Inspired by the CHS exhibit Sisu and Creativity: Finnish Cultural Heritage in Connecticut, kids can try sewing birch bark and weaving with paper to make a beautiful traditional craft to take home!

Furniture Study Day: The Federal Period in Connecticut River Valley Furniture

The CHS’s collection of early Connecticut furniture is unparalleled in its scope and depth, and this program will provide an extraordinary opportunity to learn about these important objects through up-close examination.

Spring Break ART-ifact Discovery: Woven Wonders

Join us during spring break as we take a close look at historic ART-ifacts! On Tuesday, weave through our exhibits and find the woven treasures hidden in our museum. Then, create your own woven ART-ifact from yarn or paper.

Spring Break ART-ifact Discovery: Super Stencils

Join us during spring break as we take a close look at historic ART-ifacts! On Wednesday, learn about the designs found in the chairs, chests, and other wood ART-ifacts. Use these designs or invent your own design and stencil a box to take home.

Spring Break ART-ifact Discovery: Elegant Embroidery

Join us during spring break as we take a close look at historic ART-ifacts! On Thursday, explore the world of elegant costumes and colorful embroidery. Get inspired by the clothing and needlework in the exhibits, then design and “sew” your own kid-friendly needlework.

Spring Break ART-ifact Discovery: Marvelous Metal

Friday, April 14 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Join us during spring break as we take a close look at historic ART-ifacts! On Friday, discover how metal is transformed into swords, lanterns, and other metal ART-ifacts. Then, design and make a punched tin lantern to take home.
