Visions/Revisions: The Print Transformed
Oct 13, 2017 – Jan 6, 2018

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Printmakers’ Network of Southern New England (PNSNE). The group is celebrating with the exhibit Visions/Revisions, featuring two prints from each of the 25 participating members, based on a common theme or subject of the artist’s choice. The exhibition will also feature a slide show documenting the transformation between the artists’ works, providing an overview of the inspirations, objectives, and processes.

That’s Weird
Nov 10, 2017 – Apr 28, 2018

“That’s weird” is a phrase staff hears all the time in galleries and on tours. Visitors often encounter collection items that are quirky, surprising, or rare. But, take a second look and weird objects can have surprising and unique histories. The CHS is excited to show off some of our funny little oddballs of history. Displaying many of these objects for the first time, the CHS delves into how these objects, which at first glance seem strange, can be gateways into a deeper understanding and appreciation of our state’s history. Visitors will be encouraged to go beyond making snap judgments about objects to having deeper understanding, perhaps even empathy, for the people and stories connected to our state’s material culture.
