Award to Oxford Builders:

Oxford Builders, a West End business owned by neighbors Christian & Kate Winkley, was recognized on Monday, November 23, by the Hartford City Council for it's outstanding past and ongoing contributions to the quality of life in our city. November 23 was declared Oxford Builders LLC Day with the following citation:

"Whereas, for 12 years Oxford Builders LLC has been committed to preserving historic homes and maintaining the quality of neighborhoods; and

Whereas, this commitment and desire to return properties to their original condition prompted Oxford Builders LLC to complete the renovation of a property on Girard Avenue in the City’s West End; and

Whereas, Christian Winkley’s investment of time and talent resulted in a significant benefit to the residents of Girard Avenue and the West End neighborhood; and

Whereas, Winkley’s ongoing renovation of historic properties has revitalized the West End neighborhood; and

Whereas, Oxford Builders LLC’s owners Christian and Kate Winkley have been recognized by the Hartford Preservation Alliance for their exceptional contributions to architectural preservation in Hartford; now therefore be it

Resolved, That I, Eddie A. Perez, Mayor of the City of Hartford and Councilman Matthew D. Ritter, alongside the Court of Common Council, do hereby proclaim, Monday, November 23, 2009 as: “Oxford Builders LLC Day"

Also recognized by the Council for their significant contributions to the 79 Girard Avenue restoration were the Winkleys' project partners, Jan & David Klein, and the project's real estate agents, Amy & Kyle Bergquist, all of whom were instrumental in the successful completion of this stunning transformation.
